Who is responsible
Pixellanternwhirl Heritage Ltd is responsible for personal information it processes through this website and its editorial correspondence. Registered office: 24 Grey Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 6AE, United Kingdom. Company no. 14826371. Contact: [email protected].
Reading the website
Requesting a page necessarily provides technical information to the hosting infrastructure, such as an IP address, requested address, time of request and browser information. Hosting and security logs may be used to deliver the site, investigate errors and protect the service. The pages supplied here do not include analytics, advertising scripts, third-party embeds, external fonts or tracking pixels.
Where technical information is processed for reliable delivery and security, the basis is our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the website. Any service providers handling it for us should receive access only for their service role. Routine technical data should be kept only for the operational period needed; information connected with an incident may be retained longer where necessary to investigate or meet a legal obligation.
The local field-note tool
The contact tool builds plain text in your browser. Its script does not submit your name, reply address, subject or message to a server, and does not save those entries in localStorage. Copy places the prepared note on your device’s clipboard if you permit it. Download creates a text file on your device. You control those copies; other applications or people with device access may be able to read them.
Your browser may independently retain form entries, restore tabs or offer autofill. Manage those features through your browser. Avoid entering sensitive information or another person’s private details.
If you send an email
Sending email is a separate action through your own mail service. We receive your address, message and any information you choose to include. We use this to read and respond to enquiries, consider corrections and maintain relevant editorial records. Our usual basis is a legitimate interest in managing correspondence and improving the publication. If a legal obligation applies, that obligation may provide the basis for the relevant processing.
We do not sell correspondence or use an enquiry to enrol you in marketing. Routine correspondence is retained only as long as needed for its purpose; an editorial correction record may be kept longer to document a publication decision. Legal or security requirements may justify additional retention. Contact us if you want a particular message reviewed for deletion.
Browser preferences
The cookie choices page stores a choice in localStorage only when you use its controls. This remains on your browser until changed or removed. It is not an analytics identifier and is not sent by the page script to us. See Cookie Choices Explained for the storage key and controls.
Sharing and outside services
Information may be handled by providers necessary for hosting and email, or disclosed where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights. We do not publish your correspondence merely because you contact us. If information must be transferred outside the UK, applicable data-protection safeguards must be used where required.
Following an external link takes you to another organisation’s service, which has its own practices and notice. We do not control those services. A mailto link opens your chosen email software rather than sending a message through this website.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law and its exceptions, you may request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information; object to processing; seek restriction; or request portability where that right applies. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need proportionate information to verify a request.
Write to [email protected] with “Privacy” in the subject. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK or the appropriate supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page if the site’s processing changes. The effective date above identifies this version. Optional tracking or a sending form would require a review of the information provided here before deployment.
